where wine-science meets modern story-telling

grounded. informed. creative.

THE LRW PHILOSOPHY

Weaving scientific accuracy with contemporary communication. LRW offers value to wine lovers, students, and professionals alike.

Complex scientific topics are translated through creative visuals and explanations that are easy to connect with while still honoring their full depth.

The result is an elevated learning experience that supports wine lovers at every stage and deepens their holistic appreciation for a tradition that spans centuries.

The more you learn, the more there is to love.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

LRW explores wine from the ground up. Topics range from soil structure and vine physiology to fermentation chemistry and sustainable growing practices. Together, these elements explain how wine is shaped through science, environment, and decision-making long before it reaches the glass.

This wine education resource is shaped by the way winemakers and vineyard managers are trained. The focus is on understanding wine from the production side, where decisions in the vineyard and cellar define the final result.

This perspective offers something different from most wine education currently available. By emphasizing technical foundations and processes, it provides enthusiasts and industry newcomers with a deeper, more grounded understanding of how wine is made, not just how it is described.

MEET LIANA ROSE:

Liana is shaped by an innate curiosity and a desire to explore how the world fits together. Her perspective is rooted in an appreciation for natural systems and the interconnected processes that shape the world.

She sees life as a mosaic of overlapping disciplines — art, science, history, craft — each informing the next and expanding the way we connect to nature and to one another.

For Liana, learning is a way of deepening connection and expanding the richness available in everyday life.

BACKGROUND

Liana is a sustainable viticulture and enology specialist currently working in a northern Michigan winery, supporting both vineyard and cellar operations. Her role reflects a balanced understanding of the full production cycle, from plant physiology and field work to fermentation, analysis, and sensory evaluation.

Her academic foundation includes a Master of Science in Sustainable Viticulture and Enology from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Piacenza, Italy, where her research explored microbial biostimulants, water stress physiology, and soil–root interactions.

She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Loyola University Chicago, where her research on microplastics found in aquatic ecosystems highlighted an early dedication to environmental stewardship. Loyola is consistently recognized as one of the nation’s leading universities for sustainability, a framework further reinforced through her involvement in the Greenhouse Learning Community, an environmentally focused academic cohort.

Liana’s interest in wine began during her first studies in Italy in 2019, sparked by an Italian food and wine course that introduced the relationship between culture, agriculture, and winemaking. Long before her career in wine, her academic strengths were rooted in STEM, shaped by an early commitment to scientific rigor and curiosity-driven learning. This background now informs the technical depth and ecological perspective present throughout her work in wine.
